Vegan products are becoming more and more popular by demand; you see them popping up in supermarkets, on restaurant menus, and even in fast-food chains. If you are wondering why, you are not the only one. The benefits of plant-based foods are plentiful, and in these series of articles we will swiftly unpack a few sustainability-related issues. Because we would all like our lovely little planet to last for a little longer, right?

Finishing the Fish
This week, we will be raising the issue of overfishing of the oceans. Who hasn’t heard of it? While we are enjoying our tuna sandwiches or salmon bagels, the oceans are slowly but surely being emptied by fisheries. Most of these marine animals do not even get to grow up until adulthood before they get caught; what also means they can not have any offspring, leaving a huge gap in a generation of fish. This, in turn, can turn around whole ecosystems that have been around for centuries. So in order to save our oceans, we should start being more aware of this fishy situation.

Fishless Fridays
What about a Fishless Friday? Since every little step helps, one or two days a week without fish is already a big improvement. The fishless filets by Gardein might even make you forget you are not eating fish! These products are great to try out if you want to help our planet, but don’t want to miss out on any of the good flavours… so what’s stopping you? 😉
